The Opportunity

Reporting to our Project Manager, we are looking for a Project Controls Specialist to assist with our work in East Windsor.

What you'll do here:

Project Controls Systems & Tools

1. Provide project control support (communication, training) to estimating and construction teams to ensure project controls systems are properly implemented and utilized on the project.
2. Participate in developing, establishing and maintaining project cost/control systems.
3. Assist with evaluating and documenting processes and procedures to be followed by project teams.
4. Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to Aecon’s project controls policy & guidelines.
5. Provide support in the review of tenders, proposals and contracts to ensure all commercial terms and project controls reporting requirements (i.e., invoicing, reporting) are fulfilled during project setup.
6. Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and project controls requirements.
7. Assist the project team in setting up the project WBS, project cost codes and project baseline budget.
8. Provide input into the production of a detailed, resource-loaded project schedule.

Progress & Cost Tracking

1. Generate all required project status and forecast reporting for management and client requirements.
2. Review and analyze reporting (i.e., progress, productivity, scheduling, costs, revenues, margin) with Lead or Manager as well as the project team, suggesting corrective actions to maintain expected performance and productivity.
3. Provide support to project team to ensure understanding and proper use/implementation of the project cost structure.
4. Prepare and update project cash flows as required throughout the project life-cycle.
5. Support the establishment of a change management system in compliance with contract conditions and Aecon’s procedures.
6. Provide support to project team on implementing and maintaining the prescribed change management procedures.
7. Identify opportunities of improvement for management review and consideration.
8. May be accountable for training and/or mentoring junior project controls staff.
9. Collaborate with Estimators, Project Managers, Finance, Operations teams and Management teams.
10. Communicate with external clients, client groups and partners, vendors and subcontractors as required.

What you bring to the team

• Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering technologist, or EIT.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
