A community health organization is seeking a compassionate Public Health Nurse to provide home-based prenatal and postnatal care as part of the Tsuut’ina Health Team. Tsuut’ina Health and Wellness Services is seeking a compassionate and community‑focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Child and Maternal Health and Public Health teams. This role provides home‑based prenatal and postnatal care to families within the Tsuut’ina Nation, supporting maternal and child health through clinical assessments, health education, and connections to community and social services. Working in collaboration with the Public Health Team, the RN will also support immunization programs, health promotion initiatives, and disease prevention activities that strengthen overall community wellness. This position emphasizes building trusting relationships with new and expectant parents, empowering families through education and culturally safe, respectful care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, clinical competence, and a commitment to advancing the health and wellbeing of Tsuut’ina Nation citizens.
• Current and active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required.
• Current CPR – HCP Level Certification is required.
• Knowledge of prenatal and postnatal care, early childhood development, and family‑centered care principles.
• Knowledge of Indigenous health care, wellness models, and the impacts of colonialism and social determinants of health.
• Knowledge or background in Tsuut’ina culture and language considered an asset.
• Two (2) years of nursing experience in public health, maternal‑child health, or community nursing.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation, case management systems, and electronic health records.
• Demonstrated cultural humility, respect, and commitment to reconciliation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and administrative abilities.
• Effective problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing a caseload effectively.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team‑building skills.
• Ability to navigate both Western health systems and Indigenous wellness practices.
• Valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation.
• Criminal Record Check, and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Oath of Confidentiality.
• Indigenous Ancestry, and fluency or familiarity with Indigenous language is an asset.
