THE OPPORTUNITY

The Registered Nurse at GBGH provides a leadership role within the patient care team and provides care in situations in which the patient's condition is complex and the patient care outcomes are not predictable. Within the scope of practice, as the Registered Nurse you will promote health, assess and provide care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the patient.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Must be compliant with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
  • Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (N.R.P.), Breastfeeding course, Fetal Health Surveillance, OR and Post‑partum OBS courses
  • Current B.C.L.S Certification essential, on hire required
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co‑operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public
  • Demonstrated good communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
  • Must meet expectations for appropriate, respectful and professional conduct, as set out in the GBGH Code of Conduct
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
  • 1‑2 years’ experience in OBS Labour and Delivery and Post partum
  • Completion of MORE OB is preferred
  • Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support (P.A.L.S) is preferred
  • Completion of a Physical Assessment of Adult and/or Paediatric Patient course is preferred
  • Computerized documentation (Meditech Expanse) is preferred
  • Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
  • As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly rate of pay $40.24 - $57.68, up to an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation to start

HOURS OF WORK

Temporary Part Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
