Our client seeks a Process Engineer to ensure performance objectives are met for capital projects and execute key tasks related to product/research and development activities. Job Duties:
- Provide recommendations for improved process control and work with controls/programming engineers to advance automation, remote control and management systems.
- Improve calculations and templates related to equipment sizing and cost bench-marking estimates.
- Participate in the research, development and commercialization of new technologies, patents and systems.
- Develop or bring forward, as appropriate recommendations for augmentation to existing technology to improve performance.
- Search literature and assimilate information generated by others with the aim of solving relevant metallurgical issues.
- Critically review data and reports supplied by contract 3rd party laboratories.
- Design, execute and interpret bench/pilot-scale laboratory experiments and demonstrations aimed at understanding the suitability of materials to technology and processing various ores/slurries.
- Prepare engineering documents including control philosophies, functional descriptions, manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in HAZID/HAZOP studies to support decision making.
- Support preparation of RFP/RFQ documentation to suppliers.
- Support 3D modelling design in AutoCAD, SolidWorks for equipment, plant layouts and general arrangements.
- Oversee the cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects that meet or exceed expectations.
- Support in the preparation and review of project proposals, studies and technical reports.
- Develop or bring forward, as appropriate, industry best practices and new technologies.
- Act as the process lead on various studies and projects.
- Assist the development of manpower estimates, cost analysis and other areas as appropriate.
- Assist in preparation of capital, operating costs estimates.
- Undertake trade-off evaluations of process alternatives and support trade-off for studies.
- Perform process simulations and detailed calculations for heat, mass, chemical balances, support equipment, sizing and field services/piping, materials handling solutions.
- Develop process-flow-sheet diagrams (PFD’s), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Undertake the various aspects of process engineering to include design, planning and development of specifications/drawings.
- Periodic travel to client mine site locations to supervise installation, commissioning, and/or servicing maintenance of equipment in the field.
- Periodic travel to vendor/supplier site locations to supervise inspection, testing and acceptance of products before they are shipped.
Job Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional designation (PMP).
- Minimum 3-5 years experience working in logistics, accounting or procurement functions.
- Minimum 2-4 years experience in engineering as a Junior Process Engineer or EIT.
- Registered EGBC Engineer in Training or ability to obtain in 6-12 months.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.
- Advanced computer skills: Excel, ProSim or HYSYS.
- Highly detail oriented to ensure 100% accuracy on documentation.
- Perform high level critical thinking and problem solving in an independent fashion.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working within a small, multicultural, collaborative team.
- Creative thinking to facilitate project success/completion.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, program development, QA-QC and advanced data models.
- Strong understanding of dewatering, thickening, filtration, screening and drying applications.
- Experience in logistics, accounting and/or procurement functions.
- Industrial equipment manufacturing and/or consulting engineering experience.
