The Regional Service Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple calibration laboratory operations within a defined geographic region. This role ensures that each lab meets performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction standards while leading local Lab Managers to drive operational excellence, strategic initiatives, and service revenue growth. The Regional Service Manager provides leadership on financial performance, production planning, automation adoption, quality compliance, and people management, and acts as a critical liaison between service operations and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Multi-Site Leadership : Provide strategic direction and operational oversight to a network of calibration labs; support Lab Managers in delivering consistent, high-quality service.
  • Customer Engagement : Partner with Sales and Operations to ensure exceptional customer service across the region to maintain and grow service revenue. Address escalated customer concerns and support development of tailored service solutions.
  • Financial Accountability : Oversee regional budgets, P&Ls, and capital investments. Identify opportunities for financial optimization while supporting growth.
  • Performance Oversight : Monitor regional KPIs including turnaround time, cost efficiency, productivity, revenue targets, and quality metrics. Guide Lab Managers to achieve performance goals and resolve escalated issues.
  • Production Planning : Collaborate with Lab Managers to ensure effective scheduling, resource planning, and capacity management across the region. Support your peers in achieving the same.
  • Automation & Innovation : Champion and support the implementation of automation tools and digital solutions to streamline processes, increase accuracy, and scale capabilities.
  • Quality & Compliance Assurance : Ensure adherence to Quality system, ISO / IEC 17025 and other regulatory standards across all regional labs. Lead regional audit readiness and continuous improvement efforts. Assist Lab Managers in identifying root causes and systemic issues and development of sustainable corrective and preventative measures.
  • Talent Development & Leadership : Mentor and develop Lab Managers and emerging leaders in people and business management. Drive succession planning, cross-training, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Strategic Execution : Align regional activities with corporate strategy. Contribute to long-term planning, including new lab setup, service expansion, insourcing of subcontracted work, and workforce planning.
  • Safety & Risk Management : Promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout all locations. Provide support and oversight for site-specific safety initiatives.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Metrology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in calibration, service operations, or technical service leadership
  • Must be bilingual in English and French
  • Strong knowledge of ISO compliance and quality management systems
  • Proven experience managing multi-site operations and leading through others
  • Demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibility
  • Ability to lead change, drive process improvements, and implement automation
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Willingness to travel within the region as needed (30-40% travel)
