Job summary
A premier lodge in Alberta is seeking a Qualified Signal Maintainer for a permanent, full-time position. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining railroad signaling equipment, leading a team, and ensuring safety compliance. The role offers a competitive wage of $30-$50 per hour based on experience. Applicants must have relevant experience and hold a valid signal maintainer certificate. - Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
- Hold a valid signal maintainer certificate.
Responsibilities
- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing railroad signaling equipment.
- Regulatory testing of S&C equipment.
- Utilize testing equipment and software.
- Lead a crew as acting foreman.
- Timekeeping and maintaining documents.
- Operate Hi-rail vehicles and various power tools.
- Provide daily updates to the field manager.
Skills
SPRING Alberta – Permanent, Full-time
Pay: $30–$50 per hour. Benefits and pay scale based on experience. Role requires eligibility to work on CPKC property. Work cycles vary by client needs (typical patterns: 8 days on/6 days off or 7 days on/7 days off).
- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing railroad signaling & communications equipment
- Regulatory testing of S&C equipment (weekly, monthly, semi-annually, etc.)
- Utilize testing equipment and software
- Lead a crew as acting foreman (up to 6 other employees)
- Timekeeping
- Maintain documents, records, and reports as required
- Operate Hi-rail vehicles
- Operate various power tools
- Provide daily updates to the field manager
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum of two (2) years of Signals & Communications experience
- Experience in crossing deactivations
- Ability to pass eRailSafe (background check)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with Abstract
- Willingness to travel across Canada
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing (safety sensitive position)
- Hold a valid signal maintainer certificate (CN ATP, CP, or equivalent)
- Competitive wage range: $34.00–$50.00/hour, based on experience and credentials
- Pay scale increases with credentials and experience
