TITLE
Architecture - BI (Business Intelligence) Architect - Intermediate
SCOPE

Designs BI solutions to meet business BI reporting and analytical needs. Develops and maintains BI delivery and usage standards. Designs and manages the BI tools and applications environment. Designs and develops applications interfaces, standards/policies, and adherence guidelines. Standardizes use of BI tools and semantic layers throughout the organization including web interfaces or portals used to access BI applications and data. Helps business and other end users select appropriate BI tool(s). Works with business analysts to ensure tight fit between BI environment and business requirements. Manage and work with BI developers to build standard development processes and reusable components. Develops best practices on configuring and using BI tools for more productivity. Evaluates effectiveness of BI tools. Works with production support/operations to install, configure, deploy, and tune BI tools and analytic servers. Troubleshoots BI tool problems and tunes for performance. Supports development and management of BI training, documentation, and help desk capabilities.

DUTIES

• Works with end users and business analysts to ensure tight fit between BI environment and business requirements
• Reviews BI solution needs with business users
• Translates business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objects
• Develops multidimensional semantic layer and BI query objects and views for end users
• Creates enterprise reports and report templates
• Develops test scenarios and perform in-depth unit tests of semantic and reports, including end-user reviews
• Documents applicable application and technical metadata
• Troubleshoots code problems and tunes for performance
• May be involved in or support solution installs, configurations, deployments, and tuning of BI tools and applications
• Supports development of end-user training and documentation (within projects).

DURATION AND POTENTIAL START DATE

• Contract duration: 9 months with a possibility of extension
• Expected Start Date: 01-August-2022

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Must Have:

• Expert in Microsoft Power BI (3+ years of experience) design and development with proven successful project delivery.
• Expert in visual design and performance optimization
• Experienced with Power BI data gateway, Workspaces, Apps, Deployment pipelines, Roles and permissions
• 7 + years of experience in designing/developing/implementing BI solutions.
• Clear understanding of Enterprise Datawarehouse environment (landing, integration, and semantic) particularly applied to data analytics/data warehouse.
• Strong knowledge of Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle
• Good understanding of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), types of data capture SCDs.
• Good experience with SQL/PL SQL, SQL query optimization.
• Agile methodology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that can translate technical to non-technical audiences within various levels of the organization.
• Excellent problem-solving, team and time management skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience in SAP BusinessObjects 4.2 (Information Design Tool, SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence, BI Launch Pad, SAP Crystal Reports)
• Knowledge of Tableau 10 and above in design and development is an asset

LOCATION OF WORK

Remote for now. Preference would be to have a contractor based in Toronto area (- 2727 Meadowpine Blvd. Mississauga) but the Hiring Manager is open to candidates located in Ottawa if they are a great fit.
