Job Title: Engineering Manager (Platform - Staking Platform)

Coinbase is looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Platform - Staking Platform team. This team is responsible for building platform services that enable high-quality staking products for retail and institutional customers. By facilitating staking, we help users earn dividends on crypto while contributing to the security and decentralization of blockchain networks. This role is crucial in supporting one of Coinbase’s largest revenue streams, with an annual revenue of over $700M.

• Own and expand ChainStack, Coinbase’s open-source data availability solution, ensuring efficient and scalable access with high SLAs.
• Build and maintain customized solutions for critical internal and external customers.
• Lead a team of engineers, providing mentorship, coaching, and career growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into a tangible roadmap.
• Break down complex projects into smaller milestones and lead their execution.
• Drive technical excellence, ensuring high-quality code, architecture, and engineering processes.
• Recruit and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership and customer focus.

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Expertise in designing and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Proven track record of leading high-performance engineering teams.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, balancing strategic thinking with short-term execution.
• Strong technical background, with hands-on experience in building large-scale systems.
• Passion for building an open financial system that connects the world.

• Experience with blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other staking protocols.
• Background in high-throughput distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with on-chain activity, including Ethereum addresses, ENS, and dApps.
• Commitment to operational excellence and best engineering practices.
• Strong alignment with Coinbase’s values, including clear communication, ownership, and customer focus.

• Lead a high-impact team driving Coinbase’s staking platform and Web3 infrastructure.
• Contribute to one of the largest non-market-dependent revenue streams in crypto.
• Competitive salary range: $217,800 CAD, including bonus, equity, and benefits.
