A First Nations organization in Saskatchewan is seeking two Youth Support Workers to assist children and youth in developing life skills and accessing community resources. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and with a team, and be familiar with Woodland Cree culture. This role involves flexible hours, community engagement, and inspiring youth to live healthy lifestyles.

About the facility: The Youth Support Program is located in all LLRIB Health Services, Clinics and is part of the Cultural Program located in La Ronge, Morin’s Hill.
About the position: Youth Support Workers will assist children and youth developing life skills, social skills and/or access to community resources. Providing individual care and guidance. The candidate will work with the Prevention & Recovery and Cultural staff in the communities, with youth, community members, and health care professional workers.
Duties:
• Increasing awareness and understanding of issues among First Nations youth;
• Willingness to contribute in thoughtful and innovative ways to development and implementation of awareness and prevention;
• Assist in organizing a committee in each community and engaging youth to discuss relevant issues and concerns;
• Participate in developing youth planning in each community;
• Assist P&R and Cultural team/program in facilitating grief workshops;
• Inspire youth to live a healthy lifestyle;
• Attend Meetings, case conferences and trainings as required;
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor &/or designate
Qualifications:
• Grade 12 or combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
• Strong organizational skills & able to multitask;
• Experience in facilitating groups, public speaking, presentations and writing reports;
• Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team;
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
• Ability to speak/understand Cree and/or knowledge of Cree culture is an asset;
• Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening;
• Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
