Title: Director, Salesforce and Channel Performance Management Engineering

This position (Director, Salesforce and Channel Performance Management Engineering) will be reporting to the Head of Engineering – Branch Technology within Canadian Banking Engineering and will be end‑to‑end responsible for delivering the cutting‑edge solution for our channel advisors. This role will act as a technology advisor for the Salesforce platform. The position will have senior manager responsibilities and direct/indirect reports who will help ensure successful delivery of this initiative. It will require working with multiple squads of business and technology teams to influence the outcome of the program.

Responsibilities
  • Build, lead, and manage multiple engineering squads delivering Salesforce solutions for Canadian Banking.
  • Ensure development of aligned squad roadmaps in collaboration with technology and CB business line leaders.
  • Collaborate with business SMEs and technology teams to create platform roadmaps that align and assist in moving business strategies forward.
  • Define, lead and execute a cohesive strategy designed to limit technological debt and to manage transition from legacy systems to modern technology platforms, maximizing operational efficiencies.
  • Assess key software assets of the Bank to ensure assets are not at risk from technology obsolescence and plan for retirement, extension, reuse, or consolidation.
  • Engage with engineering and design teams to determine the best technical implementation methods and a realistic implementation schedule to launch products regularly.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders to ensure prioritization is driven by business value.
  • Lead and drive a customer‑focused culture throughout the delivery teams to influence a client‑centered design culture and deepen relationships with business stakeholders, leveraging broader bank relationships, systems, processes and knowledge.
  • Coach architects and foster the growth of the team into a high‑performing architecture delivery team.
  • Participate in long‑range strategy planning and manage policy development to address complex business issues.
  • Provide key technical support and guidance to RFPs for vendor solutions.
  • Ensure regulatory, security and privacy alignment considering GDPR, PII and global requirements.
  • Build a high‑performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, using a coaching mindset and communicating vision, values, and business strategy; manage succession and development planning.
Qualifications
  • Engineering degree in computer science related field or comparable work experience.
  • 15+ years’ experience in financial services technology and architecture, including a minimum of five years of leadership.
  • Experience managing large (50+) Salesforce technology deployments in the financial industry is mandatory.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, excellent oral and written communication proficiency and strong planning ability and management orientation. Excellent conflict management.
  • Excellent knowledge of data management and enterprise architecture disciplines, processes, and accompanying technology, as well as a sound understanding of automated application controls and core IT processes (e.g., application development, change management, information security, computer operations, business continuity, cloud deployment and services), and related risks and controls.
  • Strong capability in performance management of advisors in the branch and other channels like contact centre.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
  • Strong analytical, finance & accounting, data processing and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in a leadership role with application development, technical architecture, data, or delivery focus.
  • Experience managing operating budgets and project budgets.
  • Strong project management skills, able to multi‑task and manage concurrent projects.
  • Experience with vendor product assessment & selection, vendor management & negotiating contractual terms.
  • Proven ability to deliver platforms and capabilities and manage solutions through the lifecycle.
  • Significant experience leading complex solution implementations with multiple squads, each squad size ranging from 15 to 25 resources.
  • Deep understanding of heterogeneous infrastructure technologies, business drivers, emerging technology trends related to customer information systems – e.g., legacy technologies as well as cloud, API integration, and leading transformational change incorporating modern technologies.
  • Subject area experience with financial industry products and services preferred: retail banking/lending, business banking and credit‑card processing.
  • Considerable experience transforming a delivery team to adopt Agile principles and operate in a DevOps environment enabling CI/CD.
  • Understanding of IT business continuity, cybersecurity, and integrated risk management and optimization methodologies is highly desirable, along with knowledge of IT Business Management.
