Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Hardware, Drives and Manufacturing, the Project Manager is accountable for successful planning and execution of projects from inception to completion. The Project Manager leads, directs, and exercises functional authority over all project aspects, including planning, organizing, budgeting, and reporting. In this role, they ensure project goals are accomplished on schedule and within budget while upholding quality and safety standards. The Project Manager should produce high-quality output without requiring guidance or review.
What You’ll Do
Process and Procedures:
- Support and develop project management procedures, tools and templates, and checklists to enhance and improve project effectiveness and reporting capabilities
- Manage projects and project teams in accordance with all applicable procedures
Teamwork & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with sales, customers, management, engineering, procurement, and fabrication teams to execute projects with a high level of customer service, efficiency, and flexibility.
- Support, coordinate and direct multi-disciplined project teams and any sub-contracted trades
- Be a role model and mentor for Coordinators
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential and realized project risks related to cost, schedule and quality
- Analyze data and trends to proactively detect risks, threats and opportunities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Risk Mitigation Plan with Project Team Members, Management and Stakeholders
- Communicate Risk Mitigation Plan and status updates to Project Team, Management, and Sales & Applications
- Assist in mitigation efforts and drive resolution to ensure optimal project performance
Customer Management:
- Act as the lead customer interface and advocate, providing regular and clear communication on project plans, issues, changes, and status
- Maintain a client-focused approach, aiming for exceptional customer experiences and satisfaction
- Collaborate with the Customer Account Manager to proactively manage customer concerns and escalate when required
Change Management:
- Implement and manage changes to meet project outputs, and communicate changes to the Project Team
- Define project scope for internal and customer-driven changes
- Ensure Change Order Requests (CORs) for all customer changes are submitted, approved, and executed after receipt or purchase order
Adherence to the Project Lifecycle:
- Pre-Award (Quotation) Phase:
- Assist Sales & Applications with new projects and quotations, including reviewing the Sales Risk Assessment and PM labour estimates
- Assist Sales & Applications with customer interaction during quotation phase
- Prepare initial high-level project schedule, estimating timing for key milestones
Initiation/Kick-Off Phase:- Review project details from Sales Quotation phase, including commercial details, quote, customer PO, project costing and budget, specifications and requirements, scope of work
- Prepare a Preliminary Project Schedule
- Conduct Sales Turnover, Internal Kick-off, and Customer Kick-off meetings to review all project details with management, project teams, stakeholders, and customer
- Setup Project SharePoint Site, folders, and templates
Planning Phase:- Develop the Project Plan, including scope, goals, WBS, tasks, and deliverables
- Develop budget allocations for labour and materials
- Create a detailed, baselined project schedule and identify critical path tasks
- Ensure sufficient resources and collaborate with leads to meet schedule
- Identify and secure third-party resources and sub-contractors
Execution, Monitor & Control:- Regularly review project cost accruals, variances, forecasts, schedules, risks and milestones
- Track and trend project performance using tools (Excel, schedule tools, ERP)
- Manage financial performance to ensure profitability targets
- Ensure quality guidelines are followed and document issues with action plans
- Coordinate onsite safety and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Conduct regular project team meetings and issue weekly status updates
- Track deliverables across multiple projects and collaborate with engineering, procurement, and fabrication to manage day-to-day scheduling
- Navigate competing priorities and maintain a solutions-focused approach
- Direct Project Teams to execute projects consistently
- Ensure scope of work and key deliverables are accomplished with documentation
- Obtain customer approvals to enable payment milestones and close projects
- Monitor and report progress to key stakeholders and ensure timely invoicing
Project Closeout:- Submit final billing and invoices on time
- Complete Lessons Learned and review final budget performance for continuous improvement

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant field of study preferred
- 5+ years’ experience managing multiple simultaneous engineering and technical projects
- 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role, managing multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage medium-large-sized projects with mid-to-high level complexity
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset; formal PM training and active PMP pursuit preferred
- Experience organizing multi-discipline sub trades
- Proficiency with schedules, workflows and Gantt charts, MS Excel, ERP systems, and PM software tools
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, language & documentation is an asset
- Experience in Automation and/or Drives Systems integration is a plus
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and passport for travel
