Job summary

Enviros ExCel Discovery Program is a live-in group home for youth aged 12–19, focusing on re-integration through life skills, education, and healthy relationships. The Youth and Community Support Worker will ensure safety and wellbeing, assist with intake, and support youth transitions in a strengths-based setting.

Role requires trauma-informed care, collaboration with stakeholders, and administration of Justice paperwork. Evening hours Fri–Mon; benefits and development opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or Human Services related field.
• 1–2 years of youth justice, child and youth care, social work or human services experience is asset.
• New graduates will be considered.
• Knowledge of experiential learning, strength-based practice and trauma informed care.
• Wilderness Training is considered an asset.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
• Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Designation (within 6 months)
• Current Intervention Record Check (within 6 months)
• Clean driver’s abstract with up to two minor or one major offence
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clear driving record

The Program – ExCel Discovery

The Enviros ExCel Discovery Program is a group living open-custody facility for males and females 12 – 19 years old youth serving an Open Custody Sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, while collaboratively working with the Young Offender Centers. ExCel Discovery works with youth to provide them opportunities to manage addictions, mental health, and social issues.

The goal of ExCel Discovery staff is to promote a healthy re-integration into community by fostering life skills, attending education, and promoting healthy relationships.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be part of a team that operates the program from an experiential, strength-based perspective. ExCel Discovery is a live-in group home that works to reintegrate young persons successfully back into the community. The Youth and Community Support Worker will ensure the safety and wellbeing of the youth, and uphold the overall therapeutic milieu and cleanliness of the program. The support worker will assist with weekly appointments, organized outings, recreation and supporting youth transitions back into community. The support worker will participate in the intake process and be responsible for all Justice paperwork and case management pertaining to clients within the program.

• Attend regular staff meetings.
• Other duties as required.

• A clean driver’s abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offence.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted) with a clear driving record.
