Job summary

Enviros is seeking a Child and Family Support Practitioner for the Connects Program, a four-bed live-in initiative for youth aged 6-12 with status with Children’s Services. You will supervise residents, support treatment plans, and help with daily routines and case management tasks in a 1.0 FTE, 40-hour week schedule.

This is a temporary one-year contract, Tuesday-Saturday shifts (Tue-Fri 7–3, Sat 3–11). Applicants should have a degree or diploma in Human Services, trauma-informed practice, and

The Program - Connects

The Connects Program is a four-bed Live-In Program for youth ages 6-12 years who have status with Children's Services. Connects offers a recreation, life skills and relationship-based program, with an average stay of 1 year. The intention of the child’s stay is to create a sense of safety where children can learn to name their feelings and create new ways of coping, to create a sense of community, become active in physical activity and play that is age appropriate. As well as working through childhood trauma and challenging behavior so that the child can be successful in maintaining future foster placement or a successful transition back to their family (parental or kinship setting).

Programming at Connects focuses on cultivating a sense of belonging, providing structure and routine that builds on age-appropriate life skills and staying physically active in the community. The Connects Program provides children with a safe and nurturing environment; individualized care plans; educational and recreational activities; and the development of daily routines. The development of strong positive relationships is a key component of the overall success of the Connects Program.

The Position - Child and Family Support Practitioner

The Child and Family Support Practitioner provides supervision and support to young people residing in the program and is a member of the team ensuring treatment plans are implemented. All workers are expected to assist with daily household routines and chores, minor facility maintenance and direct child support. Child and Family Support Practitioners must have good working knowledge of computer programs and skilled with basic office applications as there are daily administrative tasks as well as case management tasks as part of this role.

This is a 1.0 FTE Temporary 1 Year Contract role working 40 hours a week, Tuesday-Saturday. (Tuesday-Friday 7-3pm, Saturday 3-11pm)

Education And Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants should have minimally a degree/diploma in the Human Service field, experience with youth in a group living environment; be aware of trauma informed practices, and be professional, reliable and able to work independently.

  • Current First Aid and CPR C
  • Current Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Designation
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clear driving record.

Both checks must be completed prior to the employee’s start date. Please note that this process can take up to six (6) weeks to complete.

Enviros will accept IRCs and Criminal Record Checks with VSC that are no more than six (6) months old at the time of hire.
