Job summary

Starling Community Services is seeking a Supervisor for Safe Haven Youth Services to lead a comprehensive youth program on-site in Waterloo Region. The role starts Oct 11, 2026, with a 37.5-hour week, in a unionized style environment and a salary band determined by our job evaluation process.

You will oversee program design, supervise staff, and collaborate with community partners to promote evidence-informed approaches, equity, and youth wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in child and youth work, social services, social work or psychology, plus a minimum of three years of experience in a social service setting, and a minimum of one-year supervisor/managerial experience.
  • Demonstrates commitment to inclusion, effective communication skills; the ability to delegate as well as accept direction; committed to a team-oriented approach; able to coordinate staff and program schedules to meet identified needs and targets.
  • Commitment to helping youth within the context of the program and to be a resource to multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  • A sound understanding of evidence-informed treatment approaches.
  • Able to build authentic and sustainable relationships with staff members, clients, and community partners.
  • Required to hold a valid “G” Class License and a two-million-dollar liability policy as part of personal car insurance, First Aid Certificate, CPR certificate, and C.I.T.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in and collaborates with community partners in designing, planning, implementing, and assessing the therapeutic program environment and supervises the staff member’s implementation of the program for youth.
  • Supports the implementation of evidence-informed treatment approaches.
  • Works in alignment with the Agency’s commitment to equity to further create a sense of belonging at the Agency.
