Job summary

Reception House Waterloo Region is seeking a full-time contract Employment Specialist for the Programs, Employment team. The role supports clients with assessment, individualized pathways, and job-search services, including resume help and language support.

Location is on-site in Waterloo Region with standard business hours. Minimum one year in social services or career development is preferred; fluency in English is required and other languages are assets. Police check required (vulnerable).

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in career development or social services is an asset.
• Minimum one year of experience in social services or career development work.
• Knowledge of Employment Ontario protocols & processes is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of the local labour market and employment resources in the community.
• Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office 365 and Employment Ontario databases.

Responsibilities

• Conducts employment needs assessments to identify clients’ skills and interests.
• Develops individualized employment plans/pathways with clients to achieve goals.
• Provides employment-related orientation, job search help, and language support.
• Educates clients about working in Canada and workplace culture, rights, and taxation.
• Supports clients with workplace integration and navigation of pay statements and transit.
• Attends events and builds relationships with employers to secure opportunities.
