Supported Lifestyles Ltd. in Calgary is seeking a Youth Disability Worker to provide frontline support to children and youth with complex needs in residential and community settings.

You will work with a compassionate team, delivering behavioral and personal care support, promoting independence, and helping with community integration while documenting records and contributing to positive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children and youth with disabilities is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a residential/home and community setting.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality, specialized services in line with agency standards.
  • Provide direct, front-line support to children and youth in residential and community settings.
  • Support community integration, skill development, and positive quality of life.
  • Administer and document medication in accordance with policies.
  • Document client records and reports.
  • Provide de-escalation and crisis management as needed.

Responsive Children Supports offers specialized residential and community-based services for children and youth with complex needs. Our dedicated team provides individualized, one-to-one support within a residential home setting, empowering young people with developmental disabilities and/or emotional and behavioural challenges to develop new skills, build meaningful relationships, and experience a positive quality of life.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Deliver quality, specialized services in accordance with Supported Lifestyles' mission, philosophy, agency, and position standards.
  • Provide direct, front-line support to children and youth in a residential home setting and in the community.
  • Support individuals through community integration, skill learning, and positive quality of life.
  • Deliver behavioural and emotional support, including implementation of behavioural support plans and data collection.
  • Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Support home maintenance tasks, including cooking and laundry.
  • Administer and document medication in accordance with organizational policies and individual care plans.
  • Participate in recreational and community activities alongside the children and youth you support.
  • Facilitate individualized programming that promotes skill development, independence, and community integration.
  • Provide de-escalation support and crisis management as needed.
  • Document and maintain accurate client records, case notes, and reports.
  • Provide any other specialized supports as required based on the needs of the individual.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges is an asset.
  • Experience providing personal care (e.g., assisting with bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene) is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset (e.g., Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $19.38 - 20.21 CAD per hour.
