Job summary

Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) is seeking a Child & Youth Worker to support an enriched afterschool program at Brock Junction, General Brock Elementary School. This role focuses on learning and skill development for school-aged children, including those with disabilities, within an inclusive community setting.

The position is permanent part-time with schedules during school days; eligibility to work in Canada is required.

Qualifications

• Certificate or minimum of 3 years in related studies toward a degree such as Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Child Care, Social Sciences, or Education.
• Minimum 1 year of direct experience with children in a recreational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
• Formal training in the area of counselling and behavior management.
• Requires physical strength, good balance, mobility and endurance for recreational activities.
• Eligible to work in Canada

SCHEDULE/HRS

Monday 13:00 - 18:00; Tuesday to Friday 14:00 - 18:00 // 21 hours per week - Part time during school days, Temporary Full time hours during school breaks (Winter, Summer and Spring) and professional development days.

HOURLY WAGE

$28.04 - $31.04 as per collective agreement

THE ROLE

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

Standard requirements of the Child & Youth Worker include

• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Class 5 Driver's License
• Able to obtain Class 4 unrestricted Driver's License
• Valid First Aid/CPR
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification - training will be provided
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Basic computer literacy
• Eligible to work in Canada
