Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is seeking a Winter Student Program participant in Innovations Mechatronics to assist with VR tech, 3D designs, and Point Cloud models. You will help integrate sensors, robotics, and laser scanning systems, and contribute to CAD work across engineering projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration, learning, and hands-on problem solving, with on-site work at Chalk River, Ontario, during a four-month term.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student returning to studies after the term.
• Experience with CAD or 3D modeling is an asset.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic knowledge of robotics and automation concepts.
• Fundamental programming concepts and problem solving.
• Willingness to learn quickly and work independently when researching.

Responsibilities

• Assist with VR technologies, geometric models, and 3D designs for Point Cloud models.
• Support sensor integration, user interfaces, robotics, and laser scanning systems.
• Assist CAD design and 3D modeling for diverse projects.
• Participate in project schedule reviews and support project activities.
• Prepare technical documentation and communicate progress within the team.
• Attend meetings with staff and management to aid planning and execution.
• Support with research, data collection, and technical problem solving.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.
