Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Recreation Team Member to facilitate planned and spontaneous activities that maintain or develop residents' skills and engagement across wellness domains. You will learn each resident's interests, plan relevant programs and lead staff to ensure meaningful engagement.

Candidates bring a recreation or health-care related degree or enrollment, a passion for seniors, and strong communication and computer skills. Experience with Point Click Care and Microsoft Office is an asset.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or related field, or enrollment with intent to complete within three years.
• OR: a post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field with demonstrated recreation and leisure experience in health care settings.
• A passion for working with seniors and a desire to improve their lives through meaningful engagement.
• Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
• Previous software experience with Point Click Care, Activity Pro and Microsoft Office is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships to learn about residents' unique interests and needs.
• Develop, plan and lead recreation and leisure activities across wellness dimensions.
• Provide leadership and support to team members to promote meaningful resident engagement.
• Foster partnerships with families and within the community.
• Complete assessments and documentation and participate in quality improvement processes.
