About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

The Wellness Program Specialist position will support the wellness of learners at Northeastern’s Toronto campus. The Specialist will develop and deliver a proactive wellness programming plan for students, addressing all dimensions of wellness, both by scaling and tailoring resources already available at Northeastern, and by researching and connecting to local resources in Toronto. The Specialist will work collaboratively with Toronto staff as well as staff at global campuses to tailor wellness programming appropriately and reach the widest audience. The Specialist will support learners by providing resources, referrals, and guidance to help the learner develop healthy wellness practices, as well as overcome wellness challenges. They will serve as a case manager for students in crisis at Northeastern Toronto, including situations related to Title IX, mental and physical health, and student emergencies, ensuring follow up and continual support. Support includes but is not limited to referrals to Northeastern departments such as University Health & Counseling Services and the Disability Access Services, as well as local resources in the learner’s community. The Specialist will be responsible for data tracking and analysis. He/she/they will track engagement with wellness programming, trainings, cases, and communications, identify trends, and offer suggestions to improve services, programs and processes.

This position carries significant responsibility because of the time sensitive information that must be accurately conveyed to all customers. This is a highly visible position requiring constant and high-caliber customer contact via telephone, e-mail and in-person visitors, and the ability to provide assistance through the point of problem resolution. The Wellness Program Specialist must be comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment. He/She/They must possess the ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner; be detail oriented; possess strong administrative experience and communicate clearly and effectively to a diverse student population.

Additionally, they must possess enthusiasm for wellness and higher education and a commitment to the mission and goals of the University through his/her/their dedication to customer service.

The Wellness Program Specialist may be expected to be available by phone after hours and available some nights and weekends as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and deliver wellness programming plan for students, prioritizing students’ mental, physical, emotional wellbeing through their academic journeys.

  • Serve as case manager for students in crisis including Title IX, mental health, and student emergencies ensuring follow up and continual support.

  • Track engagement with wellness programming, trainings, and student response, including utilization and trends, and create reports to measure and improve services.

  • Manage annual comprehensive wellness survey and analyze survey results to identify student trends and satisfaction and extrapolate strategic recommendations to address.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Employee must have the flexibility to work on several projects concurrently.

  • Demonstrated diplomacy and sensitivity in working with confidential matters.

  • Sound judgement and analytical skills; attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and follow-through; ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and possess enthusiasm for higher education and have an overall commitment to excellence in customer service.

  • Outgoing, detail-oriented team player who is able to communicate clearly to a diverse student, parent, and staff population. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high traffic environment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials.

  • Willingness and ability to adapt and learn quickly new policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge and skills required are typically obtained through a bachelor’s required plus at least 2-4 years’ experience in College/University setting or a related field, ideally in wellness programming and student services/student affairs.

Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 107S

Expected Hiring Range: $62,325.00 - $96,610.00

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
