Responsibility Summary

The Distribution Manager oversees and manages the full scope of operational activity within the branch location, including warehouse, delivery, production, customer satisfaction, facility, and expenses in alignment with company policies and objectives. This position is responsible for hiring, developing, coaching, and counseling a team of employees within the warehouse and distribution functions. They drive accountability and ensure that operational expenses, such as inventory, freight, and other branch expenses, are managed effectively.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Operations
  • Responsible for branch safety; expected to create and maintain a zero accident/incident environment.
  • Meet and exceed operational key performance indicators (KPIs) and company financial objectives.
  • Maintain a full understanding and utilization of the company ERP system; use it to create daily/weekly/monthly shipping plans and execute.
  • Ensure operational expenses are approved and managed effectively and within budgets; order supplies and create expense reports as needed.
  • Manage daily branch warehouse activities including receiving, shipping, freight, and routing of delivery vehicles as needed.
  • Communicate issues and successes effectively to Regional Distribution Manager.
  • Manage all aspects of the building facility, including monthly walkthroughs, reporting non-conformances, and working with the landlord and supervisor to ensure building requirements are being met and maintained.
  • Ensure the facility is maintained per OSHA guidelines, company procedures, and organization/sanitation expectations.
  • Oversee the production process to ensure filters are made within established inventory guidelines and documented processes, meeting customer expectations.
  • Manage Inventory Control, including stock replenishment, customer returns, cycle counts, and physical inventories.
  • Manage Shipping & Receiving within the ERP system; review freight billing and rectify errors and variances promptly.
  • Ensure staff is trained to utilize appropriate shipping methods and carriers to minimize costs.
  • Process walk-in customer orders and fulfillments.
  • Respond to all customer requirements promptly, ensuring top customer service; coordinate with other departments and branches.
  • Maintain compliance with the current quality system, SOPs, policies, and processes.
Personnel Management
  • Build a safety culture; ensure safety policies are understood and enforced, with ongoing training.
  • Promote a “Customer First” mentality among staff.
  • Manage daily activities, schedules, and productivity, with clear communication of expectations.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard staff within budget and procedural guidelines.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and develop staff skills.
  • Address personnel issues promptly, involving HR as needed.
  • Use resources like Kronos to manage hours, overtime, PTO, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Warehouse Associates report to this position.
  • Service Technicians may occasionally report to this position.
Qualifications
  • Strong managerial skills; ability to develop and lead teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Organizational skills with ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to operate MHE and achieve certification.
Experience & Education
  • Minimum 2 years in warehouse/distribution management.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Demands

Regularly stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach, balance, stoop, talk, and hear. Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Use ladders with a weight capacity of 250 lbs. or less. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Office and warehouse settings.

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel expected.
