Hours:37.5 hours per week
Wage Range: $28.64 - $29.52 (start rate non negotiable)
Shifts:Monday-Friday, 0700-1500 & 0900-1700
Status:Permanent Full-Time
Closing Date: May 15, 2025

Position Summary

Ward Clerk practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties

  • Performing reception responsibilities at the Information Desk and Admitting & Registration
  • Providing clerical support in the Admitting, Information Desk and Emergency Department
  • Generating revenue by investigating insurance coverage, patient-preferred accommodation, and performing other relevant activities to facilitate optimum revenue generation.
  • Coordinating unit administrative functions
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the unit, within the scope of authority
  • Performing cross-functional duties, as assigned and/or required
  • Performing other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned/or required.
  • Assist with payroll duties, data entry, scheduling
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary office administration program at the certificate level or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent related clerical experience
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset
  • TCS/Payroll experience preferred
  • Ability to handle difficult patients and/or situations
  • Maybe required to work in multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in Admitting, Information Desk, and Emergency Department
  • General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work effectively and safely when dealing with stressful situations
  • Knowledge of Emergency Assistance Codes
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Office software environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Previous on-the-job word processing and spreadsheet experience required; experience working in a Microsoft Office software environment as an asset
