Position Overview

In Calgary, Alberta, Aecon has a $595 million contract for the Deerfoot Trail Improvements project, scheduled for completion by fall 2027. The Utilities Project Coordinator will provide field-engineering information to ensure construction complies with all standards and specifications. This role is based at our Calgary site office.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Meet daily with project crews to review schedules and resource availability.
  2. Coordinate and analyze shop drawings, specifications, and project data to ensure quality and compliance.
  3. Contribute to project work plans and schedules, identifying potential risks.
  4. Track project performance, document activities, and communicate schedule changes.
  5. Manage project quantities and costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  6. Review specifications and manage quality assurance documentation.
  7. Assist with field layout planning, utility markings, and permits.
  8. Coordinate subcontractor work and manage project close-out.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  10. Promote an inclusive culture fostering equity and belonging.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  1. Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  2. 2-5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, preferably in heavy civil construction.
  3. Knowledge of City of Calgary storm and sewer infrastructure is an asset.
  4. Experience with underground utilities, water, sewer, drainage systems.
  5. Knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, standards.
  6. Bridge building experience is a plus.
  7. Proficiency in industry software (Primavera, AutoCAD, SAP).
  8. Strong computer skills (MS Office).
  9. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  10. Flexibility to work in field and office environments.
