Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Physiotherapist at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in a permanent part-time role (50%). You will assess, diagnose and treat patients, developing holistic programs using exercises, education and manual therapies to restore function.

The successful candidate will work with a clinical team, supervise students and assistants, and contribute to interprofessional care. Up-to-date education and regulatory registration are required.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree or entry level master in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
• Active registration with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy.
• Annual CPR certification (BCLS).
• WHMS training and certification.
• Additional courses in cardio-respiratory techniques, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training.
• French language skills are an asset.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Rehabilitation Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.

The Physiotherapist is educated and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers in regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. This position provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.

As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
• Membership with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy
• Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
• WHMS training and certification
• Additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g. cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly
• Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.99 hourly
