Job summary

Nova Scotia Health's Western Zone, Valley Regional Hospital, invites applications for a permanent part-time Physiotherapist (15 hours biweekly). You will assess, diagnose and treat patients across outpatient, inpatient and community settings, under the Rehab Physiotherapy VRH department.

You will work under Health Services Manager; require degree, provincial licensure, BCLS; strong communication and collaboration; French language is an asset.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy required.
  • Licensed with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator.
  • Current BCLS CPR certification.
  • Willingness to work across outpatient, inpatient and community settings.
  • French language ability is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients with impairment, pain or disability.
  • Provide services in outpatient, inpatient and community settings.
  • Educate and communicate with health teams, patients and families.
  • Supervise physiotherapy students and assistants.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist may provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy, or Master of Science in Physiotherapy
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator (Provincial licensing body)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.98 hourly
