Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Physiotherapist for Western Zone at Queens General Hospital. The role covers outpatient, inpatient and community care with supervision of students and assistants. Excellent communication and collaboration with health teams are essential.

Applicants should hold a BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy, be registered, and maintain CPR certification. Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master in Physiotherapy and licensure with regulator.
  • Computer skills including statistics input, word processing and Outlook.
  • Annual CPR certification (BCLS) required.
  • Experience in diverse physiotherapy areas and languages is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients in outpatient, inpatient and community settings.
  • Educate and communicate with other health disciplines and caregivers.
  • Supervise physiotherapy students and assistants as needed.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist may provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Master of Science in Physiotherapy
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College Physiotherapy Regulator
  • Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
