Job summary

The Nova Scotia Health Authority invites applications for a Physiotherapist in Rehabilitation Services at Valley Regional Hospital. This permanent, part-time position (15 hours biweekly) involves assessing, diagnosing and treating patients across outpatient, inpatient and community settings, with supervision of students and collaboration with the health team.

You will hold a physiotherapy degree, be licensed in Nova Scotia, maintain CPR certification, and ideally speak French.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy, or Master of Science in Physiotherapy.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator (Provincial licensing body).
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
  • Additional courses/education/training in specialized areas (e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training).
  • Competencies in other languages are assets; French preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients with impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities.
  • Provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings and educate/communicate with the health team and families.
  • Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students and assistants.
  • Collaborate with other health disciplines and contribute to program development.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist may provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.98 hourly
