Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Physiotherapist for the Rehabilitation Services portfolio. The role involves assessing and treating patients across outpatient, inpatient and community settings, with supervision of students and assistants.

Eligibility includes a physiotherapy degree and active licensing with the NS Physiotherapy Regulator, plus CPR certification. Position is permanent part-time (15 hours biweekly) at Valley Regional Hospital in the Western Zone.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy, or Master of Science in Physiotherapy.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator.
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients with impairment, pain or disabilities.
  • Provide services in outpatient, inpatient and community settings as needed.
  • Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students and assistants.
  • Communicate effectively with other health disciplines, patients and families.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The Physiotherapist may provide service in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. The Physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers. The Physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of assistants. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy, or Master of Science in Physiotherapy
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator (Provincial licensing body)
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
  • Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.98 hourly
