Job description

School District 60: Peace River North is inviting applications for the position of Transportation Supervisor. We will be accepting applications on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Transportation Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and directing the District’s transportation department. The role ensures safe operations, including student safety, vehicle maintenance, and emergency response.

This is an exempt position, not eligible for overtime, and not part of a Union.

  • Hours: 40 hours/week, minimum 8 hours per day
  • Work Year: 12 months
  • Salary Range: $93,859 - $117,324
Job Duties
  1. Maintain cost-effective bus routes, tracking and updating schedules as student needs change.
  2. Manage and maintain the bus fleet and maintenance vehicles.
  3. Hire, manage, and oversee transportation staff including drivers, mechanics, and dispatchers.
  4. Prepare and process pay statements and reimbursements.
  5. Ensure district vehicles are licensed, insured, and inspected.
  6. Administer fuel card usage and track fuel consumption.
  7. Assist in setting up and monitoring the department’s annual budget.
  8. Order supplies, maintain inventory, and arrange training as needed.
  9. Process daily driver pre-trip reports.
  10. Make safety decisions during inclement weather and drive buses during emergencies.
  11. Establish policies and procedures for transportation operations.
  12. Review security footage and assist with security measures.
  13. Communicate with the public and address concerns.
  14. Participate in on-call duties.
  15. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Attributes
  1. Minimum Grade 12 education.
  2. Journeyman Mechanic certification preferred.
  3. Vehicle Inspection Certification preferred.
  4. Thorough knowledge of BC Motor Vehicle Act and CVSE regulations.
  5. Ability to organize and prioritize work, including scheduling and maintenance.
  6. 3-4 years recent management or leadership experience.
  7. Valid BC Class 2 driver’s license with air brakes endorsement and a clean driving record.
  8. Ability to pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
  9. Knowledge of school transportation requirements.
