Job summary

ABL Employment Inc in Toronto, Ontario seeks an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to lead day-to-day transportation operations, supervise drivers and dispatch, and ensure safe, efficient, customer-focused service.

You will work with senior leadership, monitor regulatory compliance, optimize fleet utilization, and develop reports to boost performance. The role requires 5+ years managing large AZ fleets, and knowledge of TMW or PeopleNet.

Qualifications

• College or university degree in logistics, transportation or related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing transportation operations and large AZ fleets.
• Strong leadership overseeing drivers, dispatch teams, and daily fleet ops.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, vehicle compliance and ELD requirements.
• Experience with TMW or PeopleNet and strong Office skills.
• Excellent communication, customer service, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Office and yard/terminal work ability; occasional evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily transportation operations to meet customer service and performance goals.
• Oversee driver scheduling, fleet utilization, and workload planning.
• Serve as primary contact for drivers on operational, scheduling, payroll and performance matters.
• Maintain strong customer relationships through responsive service and solutions.
• Support dispatch activities, routing, shipment tracking and load management.
• Monitor regulatory compliance, safety standards and company policies.
• Review metrics and prepare reports to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Partner with Safety and Compliance on incident investigations and corrective actions.

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Transportation Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day transportation operations. Working closely with senior leadership, this role is responsible for overseeing drivers, dispatch activities, customer relationships, operational performance, and regulatory compliance while ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused transportation services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily transportation operations to ensure customer service and performance expectations are met.
• Oversee driver scheduling, fleet utilization, and workload planning.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding operational, scheduling, payroll, and performance-related matters.
• Maintain strong customer relationships by providing responsive service and operational solutions.
• Support dispatch activities, including routing, shipment tracking, and load management.
• Monitor compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Review operational metrics and prepare reports to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Partner with Safety and Compliance teams on incident investigations and corrective action plans.

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing transportation operations and large fleets of AZ drivers.
• Strong leadership experience overseeing drivers, dispatch teams, and daily fleet operations.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, vehicle compliance, driver qualification requirements, and electronic logging systems.
• Experience with transportation management systems such as TMW, PeopleNet, or similar platforms, along with strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work both in an office setting and at transportation yards/terminals as required.
• Flexible to work occasional evenings or weekends based on operational requirements.
