Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a Driver Supervisor to oversee a fleet of drivers, report to the Director of Transportation, and ensure safe, efficient operations across locations. You will supervise drivers, coordinate schedules, and uphold safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires leadership, regulatory knowledge, and strong communication, with travel to the US as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in a supervisory role.
• 5+ years experience in the transportation, logistics, or solid waste industry.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Driver Supervisor to join our team in Hamilton, Ontario, reporting to the Director of Transportation. As a Driver Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of drivers out of different locations.

What you're responsible for:

• Supervising and managing a team of drivers
• Providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure optimal performance
• Overseeing the day-to-day operations, safety regulations and procedures
• Working closely with a team of drivers and dispatchers to ensure timely service to our customers
• Scheduling and coordinating driver assignments, routes, and deliveries to meet operational goals and customer demands
• Monitoring driver performance, conduct regular performance evaluations, and implement improvement plans when necessary
• Ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies, including safety standards and vehicle maintenance
• Maintaining accurate records and reports related to driver activities, performance, and incidents

Qualifications

• AZ or DZ license preferred, roll-off or lugger experience is an asset
• 2+ years experience in a supervisory role
• 5+ years experience in the transportation, logistics, or solid waste industry
• In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and compliance requirements
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a track record of making effective decisions under pressure
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office and transportation management software and technology for tracking and reporting
• GEOTAB experience is an asset
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to travel to the US
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed, available by phone after-hours
