Job summary

Xpedient Logistics ULC in Alberta, Canada, is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead the development of the business line with a focus on client satisfaction, safety and outstanding service. You will manage all aspects of transportation management and projects for customers, including driver management, staffing plans, risk and quality management.

You will coordinate with the Director and Leadership Team to set regional goals and drive cost savings while maintaining strong carrier

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience with all facets of dedicated transportation.
• Knowledge of distribution systems, including routing and backhaul/transfer procedures.
• Able to identify financial issues and provide cost‑effective solutions.
• Experience managing large numbers of driving staff; hiring, training and motivating teammates.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; works well under pressure and adapting to change.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless carrier setup and high productivity.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement, ensure on-time service and adjust ETAs as needed.
• Maintain a safety culture with regular safety messages, briefings, training and compliance with company policies.
• Resolve service issues with drivers, customers and staff; handle routing, planning and mechanical issues as they arise.
• Staff and train the department to offer top logistics support to the warehouse and customers.
• Drive key performance indicators for cost savings and profitability.
• Plan, direct and coordinate all delivery and backhaul activities.
• Ensure effective scheduling, training and high levels of customer service at store level.
• Provide 24-hour coverage when applicable and fill in for absences or special projects.
• Coordinate multiple disciplines on projects from conception to completion with internal/external clients.
• Oversee daily operations of accounts to ensure appointments, tracking and timely communication.
• Sustain customer relationships and growth; communicate clearly with customers and drivers.
• Travel to customer locations as needed.
