Reports to: Traffic Manager

Reporting to the Traffic Manager, the Traffic Coordinator plays an essential role in project execution. The Traffic Coordinator shall have the authority to respond to traffic control requirements and perform duties in accordance with project requirements.

The Traffic Coordinator shall be on-site full-time during construction activities, including initial works, maintenance, and rehabilitation. This role involves developing and maintaining traffic control plans, monitoring traffic operations in construction zones, measuring and verifying lane closures, managing schedules, labor, customer relations, client coordination, engineering, contract management, and procurement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise Traffic Subcontractors and coordinate with City TTC CA and Construction Team during all construction activities.
  2. Direct all traffic control operations on-site and coordinate with all stakeholders and contractors.
  3. Maintain direct authority over all traffic control personnel and procedures on-site.
  4. Record lane closures, detours, lane shifts, and traffic delays, and report daily to concerned parties.
  5. Monitor queue lengths and implement measures to ensure safety and operation of transit and municipal roads.
  6. Monitor transit travel times and report operational issues to the Traffic and Transit Manager.
  7. Respond to traffic-related incidents caused by construction activities.
  8. Document traffic control measures and activities.
  9. Ensure all requirements contribute to safe and orderly vehicular, cycling, pedestrian, and transit movement.
  10. Be available 24/7 during construction activities.
Education and Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in construction projects.
  • Post-secondary education or related work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations, best practices, and conditions.
  • Results-oriented with strong multitasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
