Job summary

John Ross & Sons Ltd. is a fifth-generation, family-owned international metal recycling company based in Atlantic Canada. They are seeking a full-time torch-cutting/welding operator to join their on-site team, with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional Saturday hours.

The role requires 2+ years of torch-cutting or welding experience, a safety-driven mindset, and strong communication skills. Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada and be comfortable driving in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of torch cutting or welding experience required.
• Able to communicate clearly and follow safety protocols.
• Willingness to drive and work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate torches and torch-cutting equipment and maintain a clean work area.
• Change liquids and adjust regulators as needed.
• Use two-way radios and other communication devices to coordinate with team.
• Perform minor repairs to equipment and report deficiencies.
• Maintain safety and efficiency in the work environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Run and clean torches
• Change liquids and adjust regulator
• Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
• Perform minor repairs to equipment
• Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to proper manager
• Maintain clean work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

• Completion of college or technical training or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in torch cutting or welding
• Safety driven mindset
• Clear communication skills
• Comfortable driving in all weather conditions

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM.Saturdays as needed, 7:00AM - 12:00PM
