Summary:
As a Multi Torch Burner Operator, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setting up and operating CNC multi-torch oxy-fuel and laser cutting equipment to process a variety of carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials. You will produce precision-cut components in accordance with engineering drawings, production schedules, and customer specifications while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety.
What You'll Do:
Set up, operate, and monitor CNC multi-torch oxy-fuel and laser cutting equipment.
Read and interpret fabrication drawings, work orders, nesting layouts, cut lists, and production documentation.
Select appropriate cutting programs, consumables, cutting gases, nozzle/lens configurations, and machine parameters based on material type and thickness.
Verify material type, grade, thickness, heat number, and dimensions before processing.
Load, position, and secure steel plate using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
Produce parts that meet dimensional tolerances and quality specifications.
Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections using appropriate measuring instruments.
Monitor cut quality and make adjustments to optimize productivity, material utilization, and finished part quality.
Remove slag and perform minor finishing operations as required.
Mark, identify, and organize finished parts in accordance with production requirements.
Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, calibration, and minor adjustments on cutting equipment.
Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance requirements promptly.
Coordinate work with supervisors, planners, fitters, welders, crane operators, and other production personnel to support efficient workflow.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Comply with all company policies, safe work procedures, quality requirements, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and material utilization.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager or Foreman.
