Job summary

The Good Spirit School Division invites applications for a temporary full-time Caretaker at Canora Composite School. The Caretaker maintains a clean, safe, and functional environment across division facilities.

Responsibilities include janitorial duties, floor care, garbage removal, grounds upkeep, and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate has at least Grade 10 and prior caretaking experience; ability to work independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 Education or equivalent.
• Direct experience in caretaking is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Sweep, mop, removal of garbage, sanitizing of surfaces.
• General upkeep of the school and school grounds.

Assignment/Contract:

8 hours/day temporary - October 28 to December 18, 2026.

Salary:

In accordance the CUPE 4784 Collective Agreement.

The duties of a Caretaker are to:

• Provide general care, upkeep, and maintenance. Including but not limited to:
  • Provide general janitorial care of the school.
  • Sweep, mop, removal of garbage, sanitizing of surfaces.
  • General upkeep of the school and school grounds.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Caretaker Coordinator and those listed in Job Description Facilities:Caretaker

The successful candidate will have the desired qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 10 Education or equivalent
• Take pride in maintaining a clean and operational facility.
• Direct experience in the caretaking field and the ability to work independently and as a team member would be considered an asset.

Salary and Benefits:

• The successful candidate will be paid on a monthly basis at an hourly rate from $20.76 - $24.78 with vacation time accrued at the applicable rate.
• Benefits include participation in the Saskatchewan School Board Association (SSBA) Employee Benefits Plan if eligible, the Municipal Employees' Pension Plan, if enrolment is chosen andopportunities to attend professional development seminars.

Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent (within the last six months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check acceptable to the Board of Education prior to offer of employment.
