Job summary

AltaLink is hiring a Telecom Lifecycle Engineer in Calgary to optimize lifecycle maintenance of telecom assets, balancing cost, risk and performance. You’ll collaborate with internal and external teams to trend performance, adapt maintenance practices, and drive improvements across the transmission network.

The role reports to the Manager, Lifecycle Maintenance Engineering, and requires strong analytics, problem-solving and communication skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• EIT or PEng with APEGA eligibility or registration preferred.
• Formal telecom training is an asset and knowledge of telecom devices is essential.
• Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct life cycle assessments for telecom equipment and improve maintenance standards.
• Lead business case development and respond to regulatory requests.
• Apply CMA process for asset condition trending and analysis.
• Develop preventative maintenance programs to enhance longevity and reliability.
• Monitor in-service devices for hardware/firmware issues.
• Investigate telecom equipment defects and perform end-of-life assessments.
