Job summary

Manitoba Hydro in Winnipeg, MB, seeks a permanent Professional Engineer (Electrical/Computer) to lead telecom engineering and operations. You will direct a team, oversee maintenance, and handle emergencies, cyber-security, and asset management for telecom assets.

The role requires a strong engineering background, seven years of related experience, SAP proficiency, and the ability to manage capital projects >$1M. A nine-day cycle supports work-life balance with occasional long hours.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 7+ years related experience.
• Strong knowledge of telecom system infrastructure, operation and maintenance.
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office; able to lead teams.
• Demonstrated planning, initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical direction for operation, maintenance, repair and commissioning of telecom equipment.
• Lead a team of technical staff and supervise development.
• Coordinate emergency response and restoration of telecom equipment failures.
• Negotiate with manufacturers and suppliers for maintenance support contracts.
• Lead development and optimization of maintenance plans and procedures.
• Identify security improvements and ensure NERC and cyber-security compliance.
• Prepare capital funding requests and coordinate with Asset Mgmt for approvals.
• Oversee training on new equipment for operations staff.
