Job summary

Fleetway Inc. is seeking a Technical Editor to join our Technical Publications team in Dartmouth, NS.

You will edit, format, and review technical publications for the ISS contract, ensuring alignment with standards and templates. You will work within the IDE using XML tools, applying S1000D-based practices while collaborating with editors across departments to meet deadlines and maintain high quality documents.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in a relevant field (e.g., Technical Communications, Office Administration, Business, English, or similar).
  • Experience in editing, proofreading, copy-editing, or administrative/document control work.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro for reviewing and editing documents.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical specifications, templates, and editing standards.
  • Clear written communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team-focused environment.
  • Experience with XML, S1000D, CorelDraw and/or InDesign is an asset but not required.
  • All successful applicants must meet requirements for CGP, and Canadian Government Security Clearance.

  • Maintain organized project files and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Job Overview

Fleetway’s Technical Publications team is leading the development of cutting‑edge documentation for the next generation of Royal Canadian Navy ships. We offer a modern, collaborative environment that leverages advanced technology to produce high‑quality technical publications. The Technical Editor reports to the Supervisor, Technical Editing, and supports the development of accurate, specification‑compliant technical publications across multiple projects within Fleetway’s Technical Publications department.
