Job summary

Job Description

Fleetway is seeking Electrical Engineers and Electrical Technologists of all experience levels to join our growing team and contribute to some of Canada's largest and most complex marine and defence programs.

In this role, you will support the design, integration, analysis, and sustainment of electrical systems for naval and commercial vessels, helping to deliver capabilities that support the Royal Canadian Navy's next generation of ships. From power generation and distribution systems to communications, control systems, and equipment integration, your work will have a direct impact on the safety, performance, and operational effectiveness of some of the most advanced vessels in service today.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, designers, and project specialists, you will tackle complex technical challenges, contribute to innovative solutions, and gain exposure to every stage of the engineering lifecycle. Whether supporting new vessel construction, modernization programs, or in-service support initiatives, you'll play an important role in bringing critical marine systems from concept to reality.

Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical system designs, technical studies, drawings, and specifications for naval and commercial vessels.
  • Support the selection, integration, and commissioning of electrical equipment and shipboard systems.
  • Perform electrical engineering analyses, including power distribution, voltage drop, short-circuit, and communications system assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation to inform engineering recommendations and project decisions.
  • Evaluate and incorporate engineering changes into existing vessel designs while maintaining system integrity and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technologists, designers, and project specialists to deliver complex marine and defence projects.
  • Participate in design reviews, problem-solving activities, and technical investigations to support project execution and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support throughout the engineering lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through construction and in-service support.
Education
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Qualifications
  • Interest in electrical systems design, analysis, integration, or support.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Assets
  • Experience with electrical design, analysis, drafting, or systems integration.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design software.
  • Experience in marine, defence, industrial, utility, manufacturing, or other technical environments.
  • Knowledge of power systems, communications systems, control systems, or equipment integration.
  • Experience with naval vessel design, shipbuilding, or marine engineering projects.
  • Engineering candidates must be licensed, or eligible to be licensed, with Engineers Nova Scotia (or equivalent provincial body), and must maintain their licensure in good standing throughout their employment.
