Job summary

Bissell Centre in Edmonton is seeking a Team Lead for Specialized Services to support the implementation and administration of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum of Services and Family Support programs. You will supervise a team of support staff, collaborate on case plans, and help participants achieve housing and sustainable livelihoods.

The role requires a degree or diploma in social sciences or related discipline, supervisory experience, and a valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist manager in implementing and administering Fetal Alcohol Spectrum of Services and Family Support programs
  • Supervise a team including FASS System Navigator, FASS Advocates, Family Support Services, and Casual Support Staff
  • Coordinate caseload reviews and transfers with Manager and FASD System Navigator
  • Facilitate case management meetings and oversee staff orientation and day-to-day supervision

Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a Team Lead, Specialized Services to join our dedicated Specialized Services team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty. How You’ll Make an Impact?

The Team Lead, Specialized Services is responsible for assisting the manager in the implementation and administration of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum of Services and Family Support programs. The Team Lead works to supervise a team of support staff which includes FASS System Navigator, FASS Advocates, Family Support Services, and Casual Support Staff, performance and development.

  • Support staff to work with participants regularly to collaboratively set goals, develop a care plan, evaluate success, and revise a plan accordingly.
  • Assist staff with implementation of participant’s case plan through role-modeling, teaching, information, brokering, advocacy, and providing practical assistance.
  • Identify opportunities to assess and enhance participants’ readiness to make positive changes and increase self-reliance.
  • Coordinate caseload reviews and transfers with Manager and FASD System Navigator
  • Facilitate case management meetings with direct support of staff and other service providers as needed.
  • Oversee orientation, training, and day-to-day supervision of direct report staff and volunteers
What You’ll Bring?
  • Degree or Diploma in Social Science, social work, human services or related discipline
  • Employees with Social Work Diploma/Degree are required to provide and maintain ongoing registration, in good standing, with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) as per Alberta Health Professionals Act
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant employment experience (e.g., high-risk populations, case management, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, housing vulnerable individuals, mental health, and addictions).
  • Minimum 1-year Supervisory experience
  • Alberta Class 5 License, Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, and a vehicle
