Job description

Our client is seeking a Team Lead, Capital Accounting to join their team in Calgary. An ideal candidate is accountable for ensuring the sustainment of policies, procedures, and processes related to accounting and reporting activities for Property / Capital Accounting, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :

1. Lead the management of property / capital accounting and reporting, including driving improvement initiatives.
2. Proactively seek to introduce new efficiencies and improvements.
3. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop and implement detailed plans to enhance accounting and reporting processes.
4. Manage and review team deliverables such as reconciliations, financial statement disclosures, and monthly/quarterly analyses.
5. Ensure compliance with Property and Asset related US GAAP accounting standards.
6. Oversee the preparation, development, and implementation of annual group depreciation studies.
7. Support the integration of property / capital accounting and reporting systems (SAP ECC and S4).
8. Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
9. Provide accounting support and recommendations for significant property transactions.
10. Ensure accounting and reporting processes comply with Internal Control (SOX) requirements.

Your strengths include :

1. Bachelor’s degree and CPA designation.
2. At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
3. SAP experience considered an asset.
4. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
