Position Overview
As a key member of the Human Resources (HR) team; the Coordinator is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR Functions including executing full cycle recruitment and onboarding accuracy.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Partnering with hiring teams to carry out the full cycle recruitment process for trades specific roles, summer student hiring and Northern IBA hiring - hiring intake, screening resumes, strategic sourcing, interviewing, negotiating and extending offers for both operational and corporate teams;
- Creating postings, interview guides, understanding competencies and aligning with strategic values;
- Establishing strong internal relationships with Business Unit leaders (both remote at site and in the Calgary head office);
- Sourcing for Trades specific roles and Northern hiring using LinkedIn recruiter seat, Indeed resume search, career fairs and hiring events, personal networks, cold-calling, creating a hiring pipeline for roles hired frequently, and administrating internal referral programs;
- Verifying accuracy of onboarding process and activities to ensure new employees are onboarded successfully;
- Book, report and process background checks and Medicals for pre-employment.
- Managing external vendor relationships such as pre-employment testing through Driver Check, Sterling Backcheck and Certn;
- Collaborating with the Training team, HR Coordinator and Travel team on onboarding and orientation of new employees;
- Working closely with HRBPs, Business Unit leaders, HR Coordinator, Training and the Northern Talent Coordinator to create and implement Talent Acquisition projects and strategies; including but not limited to; Northern Recruitment strategy to support Northern Indigenous recruitment and IBA requirements; improve northern hiring metrics; participation on relevant committees and facilitating surveys;
- Facilitating Apprenticeship hiring and programs with Superintendent Training;
- Establishing a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process;
- Supporting candidates with utilizing tools and resources in the recruitment process;
- Understanding of relevant legislation and Collective Agreements;
- Keeps up to date on current industry trends, hiring activities and recruitment best practices;
- Willingness to support ADHOC projects within the HR team as required.
Education/Experience
- Completed post-secondary education, preferably in a related field such as Human Resources Management, business management/administration OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training;
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation and/or Registered Professional Recruiter are considered strong assets for this role;
- 3+ years of direct recruitment experience for hourly and salaried positions within mining or similar resource based industries;
- Experience with Northern Indigenous recruitment;
- Experience in recruiting for trades/union positions for camps or remote worksites;
- Experience with talent acquisition strategies, programs, vendors and tools;
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset;
- Experience with direct sourcing is considered an asset;
- Solid understanding of federal, provincial and territorial employment laws as it relates to talent acquisition, HR trends, issues, and best practices;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet time demands of a dynamic business environment;
- Self-motivated, action-oriented with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
