Job summary

Ace-Casinos-Blackfoot is seeking a Table Games Dealer to greet guests, deal cards, and ensure fair play in a fast-paced environment in Calgary. You will rely on strong English communication, compliance with AGLC rules, and exceptional guest service to create an engaging experience for patrons.

The role requires high school education, a valid AGLC license or ability to obtain one, and the ability to pass a background check. AML and ProServe assets enhance the profile.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must hold current AGLC gaming license or be able to obtain it.
  • Criminal background check clearance required.
  • AGLC AML Certification and Phase 1 certification required; Phase 2 and ProServe are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and deal cards per AGLC Terms and Conditions.
  • Respond to guest issues and escalate as needed.
  • Monitor chips and cash; ensure game integrity.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and confidentiality.
  • Promote outstanding guest service and rapport with guests and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws and safety regulations.

Job description

Under the direction of the Games Manager/Supervisor/Pit Boss, the Table Games Dealer is responsible for dealing cards to guests in accordance with Alberta Gaming Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) Terms and Conditions while providing excellent customer service. Maintaining the company’s core values is essential for this position. The Table Games Dealer is critical to the success of our business and always maintains a professional manner.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Welcomes guests to the table and deal cards as per AGLC Terms and Conditions.
  • Responds to guest issues and escalates as required.
  • Monitors chips and cash and ensures the integrity of the game.
  • Observes problematic guest behaviors and reports to the Supervisor as required.
  • Is a great team player and exemplify outstanding guest service, to both internal as well as external guests.
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with guests, ownership, employees, the AGLC and the community and charitable organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with AGLC policies.
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Promotes and maintains the highest levels of integrity and customer service.
  • Ensures outstanding guest service by responding promptly to guest needs and requests for service.
  • Follows and supports the core values of the company.
  • Other duties as required.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of high school education or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Current AGLC registration gaming license, or ability to successfully become a registered gaming worker.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • AGLC certifications including Anti-money Laundering (AML) Certification, Deal us in Phase 1.
  • AGLC certifications including Deal us in Phase 2 and ProServe certification are considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to speak English is mandatory. Ability to fluently speak additional languages is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to maintain professionalism and a high level of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of gaming controls.
  • Ability to maintain effective table control, in terms of both game speed and protecting the integrity of the game.
  • Ability to maintain 20+ hands per hour.
  • Ability to recognize signs of collusion or team play, angling, obvious misinterpretation, or manipulation of the house rules, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organized, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience dealing with VIP guests is considered an asset.
Job Requirements
  • Ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including graveyards, weekends, and holidays. The hours of work will be based on operational needs.
  • Knowledge of AGLC Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines.
  • Knowledge and ability to clearly explain operating house rules to guests and employees.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to approach situations in a tactful manner.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and treat others with respect regardless of their status or position.
  • A passion for providing excellent service and full alignment with the organization’s vision.
  • Strong willingness to learn about guest needs and wants.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Stand/sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the shift.
  • Walk – Must be able to occasionally move about inside the Casino.
  • Use of hands/fingers – must be able to use both hands to deal cards, pay chips, etc.
  • Talk/hear – must be able to detect, determine, identify, observe, inspect, and assess. This positions frequently communicates with guests and employees throughout the entirety of the shift. Must be able to exchange accurate information and professionalism in these situations. Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in either or both eyes with or without corrective lenses.
  • Works in an indoor, fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
