ALT Consulting in Ottawa, Canada, is seeking a System Support Specialist to join our Support team, providing technical and administrative support to clients and helping resolve IT issues. You will advise clients and collaborate with teammates on more complex problems, while engaging in site visits or project work as needed.
You will contribute to developing our Small Business IT Platform, set up test environments, and optimize systems for better performance.
We’re looking for a System Support Specialist to join our Support team in helping our clients achieve their greatest potential through the use of information technology.
ALT Consulting is an IT firm providing comprehensive, fully-managed IT services and solutions to businesses, agencies, and government organizations across North America. We are a diverse and driven team of talented individuals who are passionate about creating work environments conducive to success - both for ourselves and for our clients.
Success with information technology starts with finding the right tools for the job or industry, and setting these tools up to provide intuitive workflows for the end-user. It is our mission to provide organizations with fast and reliable access to their business data and collaboration tools and to ultimately allow them to work without interruptions due to technology.
During a typical morning as a System Support Specialist, you will be providing technical and administrative support to our clients; helping them resolve technology problems, advising them, and working with teammates to tackle more complex issues.
At other times, you may be working on larger client projects, as well as attending site visits or delivering equipment. At ALT Consulting, we are constantly learning about new technologies and seeking out ways to improve the client experience. Therefore, as part of your role, you may be performing research, or evaluating new equipment or software to implement for clients.
As someone familiar with ongoing projects, you may need to meet with clients or project managers to provide updates and occasionally assist in creating progress reports. You may also be asked to join senior staff to provide support during sales meetings or IT evaluations.
When you’re not working on client matters, you will be focused on internal projects, including the development of our Small Business IT Platform with the R&D team, setting up test environments, and modifying systems to optimize their performance. In essence, you will be practicing and mastering the art of IT optimization.
As you gain knowledge and experience in different domains, you may decide that you want to specialize in a field that best suits your interests. A successful System Support Specialist will be offered opportunities to specialize as an IT Consultant or CIO, Systems Administrator, Product Development Engineer, Marketing and Sales Executive, and Management roles.
Each day you will be empowered to be innovative, think differently, and work autonomously while challenging yourself to grow and improve.
You will be well equipped to handle not only the day-to-day support challenges, but you will also play a vital role in moving key projects forward with your own advanced technology setup. When working from the office, you’ll be in your own private workspace, which includes an immersive 40-inch 4K monitor, a MacBook Pro, quality peripherals, and an ergonomic desk and chair.
