Integrate Systems. Strengthen Solutions. Support Retail Success.
As the System Integration Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the integration and conversion of retail electronic data (EDI) services across Home Hardware’s systems. This includes collaborating with third-party point-of-sale providers and specialty software vendors to deliver seamless data connections that power our key retail programs. Led by the Third Party Software Manager, this opportunity suits a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and hands-on experience in retail systems integration and technical consulting.
Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:
  • Analyze complex incidents and problem logs escalated by the team and recommend effective solutions.
  • Provide backup support for the Vendor Liaison and Senior Support Analyst to ensure continuity of services.
  • Support Territory Managers in coordinating SKU conversion projects for new Dealers transitioning to a Home-supported third-party point-of-sale system.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with third-party software providers to plan and monitor integration and onboarding projects.
  • Consult with third-party software providers to enhance their tools in line with Home’s EDI interface specifications.
  • Conduct data analysis on point-of-sale extracts to fulfill requests from Dealers, software providers, or department leadership.
  • Develop complex ad-hoc queries using Discoverer to generate custom file builds for Dealers.
  • Collaborate with business units and software providers to define interface and conversion requirements for new or significantly updated applications.
  • Document interface specifications and business rules for all retail electronic data services.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on point-of-sale system impacts related to changes or enhancements in retail data services.
We’re looking for:
  • A diploma in Computer Systems Management, Database Management, Networking, or Data Communications.
  • Three to five years of experience in systems integration, technical support, or data analysis, ideally within a retail or point-of-sale environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to relate current challenges to past solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and third-party partners.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail business practices and POS applications used in the Hardlines and LBM industry.
  • Familiarity with Home Hardware’s internal systems, processes, and retail programs is a strong asset.
  • Extensive experience providing technical support through a helpdesk or support line, preferably in a senior analyst or escalation role.
  • Proficiency with data extract and analysis tools such as Discoverer, Access, Monarch, and Excel.
  • Expertise in data communication tools (e.g. FTP, MessageWay).
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
  • Experience using documentation standards and tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
