Job summary

CORE Geomatics is seeking a Survey Assistant in Calgary, AB. The role supports surveying oilfields and construction sites across Western Canada, with potential long shifts and travel. The candidate will work under the Crew Chief, maintain safety, and contribute to data collection and field operations.

The ideal applicant has a High School Diploma, some Geomatics exposure, and strong communication skills, with certifications such as First Aid or CSTS being advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required or equivalent.
• Post-secondary Geomatics education is an asset and helpful.
• Certifications in First Aid, H2S, CSTS, or equivalent are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surveying oilfield and construction sites in Western Canada.
• Take direction from the Crew Chief and travel for shifts up to 21 days.
• Maintain a safe work environment and be aware of safety issues in the field.
• Perform survey-related tasks including GPS equipment use and data collection.
• Communicate effectively with trades, staff and clients to build a team environment.

who, ideally, has past experience in the Survey industry and has a desire to grow and learn with an innovative, forward-thinking company.

The Work:

• Assist with the work of surveying oilfield and construction sites in Western Canada.
• Willing and able to travel as shift work may last up to 21 days.
• Take direction and instruction from the Crew Chief.
• Maintain a safe work environment, and awareness of safety issues.
• Perform a variety of survey-related tasks such as use and/or maintenance of GPS equipment, ongoing survey data collection, and other duties as directed by the Crew Chief.
• Building a team environment through high-quality communication skills with trades, staff, and clients.

What you bring to the table:

• A High School Diploma, and an interest in the Geomatics industry.
• Post-secondary Geomatics education is an asset.
• Familiarity with the work of a survey crew.
• Experience working in outdoor bush conditions as well as industrial construction sites.
• Certification in First Aid, H2S, CSTS, or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Ability to provide a passing drug and alcohol test result upon request.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with riding ATV and snowmobiles.
