Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a Casual Surgical Booking Clerk for Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC. The role involves coordinating surgical procedures, maintaining waitlists, and scheduling daily bookings using PICIS OR Manager and related systems.

The position requires a 5-minute typing test at 45 wpm, completion of a Medical Terminology course, and three years of related experience, or an equivalent mix of education and training. Shifts are days, with on-call casual coverage.

Qualifications

• Valid typing test showing 45 wpm completed within the past 48 months from an accredited institution.
• Proof of completion of Medical Terminology Course.
• Resume indicating three years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Cover Letter stating availability to start and willingness for on-call casual work.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes requests for surgical procedures and coordinates with physicians and their offices.
• Develops and updates surgical waitlists and slates using computerized scheduling systems.
• Edits surgical slate, identifies errors, assigns extra cases, and confirms final bookings.
• Communicates with Admitting, Nursing, and Surgeons to coordinate care.
• Instructs patients and families on pre-operative instructions and appointments.
• Maintains and distributes surgical data and generates booking reports.
• Performs clerical duties and inputs patient data into systems.
