Job summary

LASIK MD in Winnipeg, MB seeks a Surgical Assistant to support intraocular and LASIK procedures. You will prepare the operating room and instruments, assist the surgeon, and reassure patients throughout care.

Ideal candidates communicate clearly in English, work well on a team, and bring attention to detail. The role offers a permanent full-time position with benefits and opportunities to travel for training.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Become a specialist of tools and technologies used in intraocular and LASIK procedures.
  • Prepare the room and its tools before procedures for the surgeon.
  • Support and reassure patients as needed during care.
  • Coordinate and support each intervention as part of a team.
  • Work on your feet in the operating room.
  • Maintain accuracy and meticulousness in all tasks.
  • Help report patient safety concerns to clinic management as part of Risk Management.

Your tasks at a glance


  • You will become a specialist of the tools and technologies used in intraocular and/or LASIK procedures.

  • You are the person the surgeon relies on to prepare the room and its tools before the procedures.

  • You always find the right words to support and reassure the patient if necessary.

  • You are a stickler for details and work with precision and accuracy.

  • You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

  • Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.).

  • You can travel to other clinics for training (expenses covered by Vision Group).

  • Schedule: You are available to work Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with Saturdays on rotation.
