LASIK MD is seeking a dedicated Surgical Assistant to join our ophthalmology team in Dieppe, NB. You will support the surgeon, prepare the operating room, and work closely with a knowledgeable team in a high-tech surgical setting.

You will become proficient with intraocular tools and technologies, ensuring precise, safe patient care. The role offers a stable full-time schedule, with benefits and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in health care or medical assistance is an asset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work 7:00 am start and follow surgical protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist the ophthalmologist by preparing the room and tools before the procedure.
• Coordinate interventions with the surgical team to ensure smooth operations.
• Support the surgeon during procedures and anticipate actions according to protocols.
• Develop expertise in intraocular procedure tools and technologies.
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while standing in the operating room.

Your tasks at a glance

• You work closely with the ophthalmologist; you anticipate their actions while following protocols.
• You like working in a team and know by heart the actions to take to coordinate each intervention.
• You are the person the surgeon relies on to prepare the room and its tools before the procedure.
• You will become a specialist in the tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.
• You are comfortable working on your feet in the operating room.
• You are a stickler for details and work with precision and accuracy.

• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).

• Your experience in the health care field is considered an asset (ex: optometric assistant, orderly, dental assistant, pharmacy lab technician, sterilization assistant, animal health technician assistant, etc.).
• You have excellent communication skills, you speak English et français également (advanced intermediate level of French required due to the nature of the tasks or interactions with our French-speaking patients).
• Schedule: You are available to work Monday to Friday from 7:00 am until the end of the surgery schedule.
